I know people usually advise borrowing one from Pep Boys, etc., but there is no such place I know within an easy drive. Also, I tend to spread my car projects over a couple weekends. So I looked into buying my own compressor. Please have a look at these Harbor Freight pages: $11 spring compressor $40 spring compressor From those of you who change shocks and springs regularly, which compressor (if either) would you recommend for a hobbyist? If it is the $11 model, I'll buy it. But if that model just won't do the job, or would be more dangerous for a novice than a different model, I'd like to know that. I'll make my purchase decision after I get a little feedback. Right now, I don't even know for sure if I'm looking at the right tools (MacPherson stut references are throwing me off). Or I could abort the purchase idea and look harder to see if local garages might give me a lender. (Sorry for the separate links, I tried to put the search results page, but it was a java-thing, not a static page...)
